Department of Medicine Teaching Awards 2009

In keeping with our tradition of excellence in education, the Department of Medicine is pleased to announce the following Teaching Awards presented to our faculty, fellows, and residents at the 2009 Convocation Ceremony.

 

Ronac Mamtani, MD
House Staff Teaching Award

This award was established by the Class of 1990 and the Alumni Association to honor the Weill Cornell-affiliated house officer who best demonstrates clinical excellence and dedication to teaching.

Morton D. Bogdonoff, MD

Professor of Medicine Emeritus

The Leonard P. Tow Humanism Award

Presented by the Gold Foundation
This award was first given in 1998 by a newly established granting organization that believes that a key component of medical education is compassionate and humanistic care of patients. By vote of a committee of faculty members and students, this award is presented to recognize and honor one faculty member and one graduating student who demonstrate the highest standard of compassion and sensitivity in their interaction with patients.

Charles L. Bardes, MD

Professor of Clinical Medicine

The Richard A. Herrmann, MD, Teaching Award
This award was established in 2000 by Ms. Marilyn N. Herrmann in loving memory of her late husband. A member of the Department of Medicine for many years, Dr. Herrmann was considered a gifted clinical teacher. The award is given to an outstanding teacher in the third year and is chosen by members of the third-year class.

Professor of Medicine Emeritus

Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award of Alpha Omega Alpha
Recommended by the graduating class and selected by student members of the AOA chapter, this award is given to a voluntary faculty member who effectively and generously donates his/her time, skill, and experience to teach clinical skills.

This award was established by the Class of 1971 and Alpha Omega Alpha in recognition of the late Dr. Elliot Hochstein's compassion, skill, and distinction as a physician and teacher.

Medical Student Executive Council (Second Year Teaching Award)

This award was established by the Medical Student Executive Council to honor a faculty member who best exemplifies excellence in teaching.
