Anne Kastor, MD, Appointed Director of Weill Cornell Community Clinic (WCCC)

Anne Kastor, MD

Anne Kastor, MD, has accepted the newly created position of Director, Weill Cornell Community Clinic (WCCC), effective March 1, 2010. WCCC is a Weill Cornell student initiative operating over the past several years to provide clinical care to patients who are under- or uninsured. WCCC operates out of the Weill Cornell Internal Medicine Associates (WCIMA) practice on Monday evenings. It has been a robust student service-learning activity that is sponsored by a faculty steering committee, has worked with local social service programs, and has provided an important service to our local community.

Dr. Kastor joined WCIMA in the Department of Medicine in 2009, having received her BA degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and her MD from UC San Francisco (UCSF). She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at UCSF, since which she has held several academic appointments at Touro University College of Medicine (Academy of Medical Educators), State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate, and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Kastor has had extensive experience in medical education, spanning both medical student and residency training programs, including serving as director or co-director of several doctoring courses at Touro and SUNY and including content such as physical diagnosis, medical ethics, cultural competence, and substance abuse and addiction. She has provided oversight for several outpatient and primary care sites and has had previous administrative experience in providing faculty leadership for the Brooklyn Free Clinic, a free primary care clinic organized by SUNY Downstate health professions students.

We congratulate Dr. Kastor on her new position.
