General Advice
The crucial item on the critical path to application for subspecialty training is the securing of 3 professional letters of recommendation. If you are reading this, it is not too early to consult with your Internal Medicine program director for guidance in selecting faculty to approach for letters of recommendation as a mentor. A mentor within the subspecialty is important in guiding your research opportunities as well as navigating the various career choices and modes of clinical practice that exist within the subspecialty.
