ACE-IPF Study (AntiCoagulant Effectiveness in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis)

Study Description

The ACE-IPF study tests the safety and effectiveness of the drug warfarin in patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). Study volunteers will be randomized to warfarin or placebo. Study visits will occur at baseline (study entry), and weeks 1, 16, 32, 48 and 54. Volunteers will be reimbursed a maximum of $250 per visit for study travel expenses relating to mileage, commercial air or ground travel, hotel costs, meals and parking fees after providing travel receipts to the study coordinator.

Key Eligibility

  • Men and women ages 35–80
  • Diagnosis of IPF
  • Progression of disease despite conventional therapy (standard of care treatment)
